Bright Immigration "Immproved" tool

I designed an immigration web application around an existing digital form based in customer feedback.

Problem statement

Immigration is complex and overwhelming

"Immproved" is an online form that was built as a more cost effective way to give more customers access to immigration guidance and results. This online form quickly became popular, and Bright Immigration was interested in expanding its capabilities to improve the customer experience. On a high level, immigrants work on their case over many years, and a one time form was limited in its' ability to best serve this need over time.

Users want to:Update their form as they accomplish new things (the status quo was that they would have to redo the entire form). "Be in the know" about new programs that open. Users have trouble knowing which apply to them. They also want to be able to organize and reference these programs Track application status as a family.

Family members can swap accounts with a dropdown and improve their independent scores.Ultimately, the member with the highest score can be placed as the main applicant to increase the chances of success.

Poll of target users

We surveyed 80 target users showing a prototype and asking how many would use this tool if it were available today. 93% answered "yes"

I analyzed the video data using tags in Dovetail. An example of a tag category is "pains", within this I had multiple sub-categories such as "navigation", "logs", "writing code" and "conditionals". I looked for patterns that would place them into larger overarching themes and these were my insights.

Working with an old design system

I found it challenging to work with the existing color palette and logo. It was an interesting challenge to find creative ways to modernize the designs while staying within the design system and requirements.
